Design, simulation and comparison of controllers for a redundant robot

(in lingua inglese) The use of a robotics simulator for development of a robotics control program is highly recommended regardless of whether an actual robot is available or not. Because of this, a kinematic and dynamic model of a redundant robot with five degrees of freedom using the methods of Denavit–Hartenberg and Lagrange–Euler, respectively, was developed. Six controllers were made hyperbolic sine–cosine; computed torque; sliding hyperbolic mode; control with learning; and adaptive. A simulator was made using the MatLab/Simulink software. The tests of the manipulator model were presented, including the dynamics of the actuators and together with each controller, by following a test trajectory composed of a spiral in the Cartesian space.
Active fault-tolerant control strategy of large civil aircraft under elevator failures

(in lingua inglese) An AFTC strategy based on model following technique has been proposed in this study for civil aircraft longitudinal control after some elevators fail. By introducing the performance improvement coefficient, AFTC can provide the appropriate controller under elevator faults to achieve the good performance. Implementing the control strategy on B747, the control law is able to track step command preciously without the steady-error. When less two elevators fail, there is no obvious difference whether to utilize the THS in FTCS or not with the increment of amplitude of step command.

For the optimization of controller parameters using modern heuristic optimizations techniques, selection of suitable objective function is very important. In view of the above, different objective functions using Time multiply Absolute Error (ITAE), damping ratio of dominant eigenvalues and settling time with appropriate weight coefficients are employed to increase the performance of the controller.

A new neuro-fuzzy inverse dynamics network was developed using input/output data sampled from the robot during free motion under conventional controller. The initiatives of the presented work are given as follows: the mathematical analysis and current injection modeling of a new FACTS device based on distributed power flow controller are presented. A novel current injection model of the DPFC for studying on the low frequency oscillations is proposed for the first time.

In addition, successive braking yields to increase the temperature and consequently the brake fading will increase the stopping distance and wear of the brake pads and disc. Thus, a wear model is built to provide on-line information about the wear and its variation with system parameters. Then, it was challenging for a traditional controller to reduce the wear and achieve the main goal of the ABS system concerning the safety represented by the stopping distance in addition to accepted loss-level of performance.
Fractional order PID controller design for LFC in electric power systems using imperialist competitive algorithm

(in lingua inglese) In this paper, an FOPID controller was proposed for LFC in a three-area power system. The parameters of controllers were tuned using ICA. Simulation of comparative cases confirmed that the proposed controller had better performance in LFC of the interconnected power system. Responses of the power system to disturbances were much smoother and less oscillatory using the proposed controllers. In most cases, the settling time and maximum deviation of power system responses diminished when FOPID controllers were implemented.

FLC based on FPGA has some advantages such as flexible design (the membership functions and rule base can be easily changed), feature accuracy, high reliability, cost improvement, and high speed. The performance of the FLC is compared with the PI controller for reference speed and load changes.

Obtained through simulation of BLDC motor, the simulation results show that the proposed controller can perform an efficient search for the optimal gains of PID controller. By comparing between PSO method and BF technique, it shows that PSO method can improve the dynamic performance of the system in a better way.

Firstly, the system without any physical constraint is optimized using conventional objective functions. It is observed the performance of the power system is better in terms of minimum damping ratio, settling times and peak overshoots in frequency and tie-line power deviations when ITAE objective function is used compared to IAE, ISTE and ISE objective functions.
Design and FPGA-implementation of an improved adaptive fuzzy logic controller for DC motor speed control

The speed control based on an FPGA and the two embedded controllers are implemented by using VHDL code software and Spartan-3E FPGA starter kit Board hardware. It is designed to realize the aforementioned control algorithms for ensuring high performance. Therefore, all functionalities, which are based on software/ hardware co-design, required to build a fully digital speed control for DC motor drive, have been integrated in one FPGA chip.

Simulation results operated by MATLAB/SIMULINK show that response of system without using the controller is unstable. For dynamic stability improvement, lead-lag controller has been used. SVD has been employed to evaluate the EM mode controllability to PSS and the four UPFC control signals. It has been shown that the EM mode is most strongly controlled via dB for a wide range of loading conditions. Classical and intelligent techniques have been used to enhance the dynamic stability.
A hybrid firefly algorithm and pattern search technique for SSSC based power oscillation damping controller design

The input signal to the SSSC-based controller is derived from the locally measurable line active power. The design problem is formulated as an optimization problem and h-FAPS technique is employed to optimize the controller parameters. The effectiveness of the proposed SSSC controller in improving the power system stability is demonstrated for both single machine infinite bus and two-area four-machine power systems under various severe disturbances.
Intelligent controller for load-tracking performance of an autonomous power system

The proposed autonomous power system model exhibits an excellent dynamic performance with truly optimized different controller gains. It is also presented that the DEG plays a significant role in maintaining the terminal voltage variations along with the optimized controller gains of the studied power system model. The main tunable parameters of the investigated model are optimized by a novel OGSA. The potential benefits yielded by the proposed algorithm are compared to other state-ofthe-art algorithms surfaced in the recent literature. A timedomain simulation of the studied autonomous model is carried out under different kinds of input perturbations.
Regression model for tuning the PID controller with fractional order time delay system

ICA approach is used to find optimum gains of designed controller. To validate the effectiveness of presented approach, dynamic response of rotor speed and rotor angle deviation considering several scenarios with different loading conditions and with different disturbances occurred in power system are studied. The obtained results are compared with CPSS and GA-based HVDC controller and the comparison validates that the presented method is more efficient in oscillation damping context.
DE optimized fuzzy PID controller with derivative filter for LFC of multi source power system in deregulated environment

Physical constraints such as Time Delay (TD) and Generation Rate Constrain ) are considered in the system model in order to make the system more realistic and demonstrate the ability of the proposed approach to handle nonlinearity in the system model.
A hybrid DE–PS algorithm for load frequency control under deregulated power system with UPFC and RFB

The fast response capability associated with electronically controlled PD control loop of DFIG based WECS is utilized to improve the transient performance of frequency regulation of power system. Integrated with thermal systems, a coordinated tuning of the PD controllers along with those of integral controllers of AGC in a two area is found to be beneficial. The tuning of controller parameters is carried out using a multi-objective optimization to find the set of controllers whose performance show non domination and improve many performance indices without deteriorating others.

Use of Zsource causes more reliability and bucking or boosting capacity of output voltage. In this case, two advanced algorithms proposed make it possible to achieve a wide range of output voltage with lowest THD. These algorithms produce a highquality voltage with an extremely low switching frequency which can be easily implemented in a standard DSP motor controller.

Questa tesi presenta la progettazione di un carica batterie ideato per operare con un ingresso universale. Il convertitore AC/DC è implementato usando una tipica struttura a due stadi Il controllo di questo dispositivo è implementato usando un controllore PID multi-loop per il raddrizzatore PFC, tramite il controllo average mode della corrente. Un semplice controllore PID è implementato nel convertitore DC/DC ed entrambi utilizzano uno switching PWM. Viene inoltre presentato un nuovo approccio digitale per eliminare il controllore feed-forward dallo schema convenzionale, che semplifica ulteriormente la strategia di controllo. Il controllore digitale del sistema di potenza usa una strategia di switching binaria per i transistor. Essi switchano in base al segno dell’errore, usato come segnale di controllo.

Sviluppo di un controllore al fine di incrementare il livello di automazione dei sistemi manifatturieri, attraverso il paradigma della produzione intelligente. Il processo di riferimento è la fresatura delle leghe di alluminio mediante macchine utensili a controllo numerico. Il sistema sviluppato è chiamato Evaluation and Perception Controller, ed è costituito da tre livelli: sensori, percezione e cognitivo. La validazione delle prestazioni del sistema qui sviluppato è svolta confrontando gli osservabili di processo con quelli ottenuti in un caso nominale, nel quale i parametri sono scelti secondo indicazioni fornite dal produttore degli utensili da taglio.

La tesi tratta la sviluppo software/hardware di un modem acustico subacqueo a spettro espanso. I principali elementi utilizzati sono stati: Labview, un ambiente di sviluppo utilizzato per la simulazione del sistema di comunicazione formato da trasmettitore, canale e ricevitore; il Sistema PXI, che ricopre la parte hardware formata da uno chassis all'interno del quale sono alloggiati un controller e una scheda di acquisizione/generazione dati. Infine l' analizzatore di spettro, utilizzato per verificare che il segnale effettivamente inviato è quello di nostro interesse. Tramite questi elementi è stato possibile determinare le prestazioni del modem in termini di bit-error-rate ed effettuare una trasmissione reale del segnale generato dal modem.
